George Clooney And Amal Alamuddin Hold Private Civil Ceremony

George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin made their marriage official on Monday in Italy during a private civil ceremony.

The actor, 53, and the attorney, 36, headed to Venice’s town hall to make their union official with a civil ceremony conducted by former mayor of Rome Walter Veltroni, People magazine reported. Clooney’s boat driver, Alessandro Greco, served as a witness for the couple.

Clooney wore a dapper gray suit while Alamuddin looked glamorous in a cream two-piece ensemble with a matching hat.

The pair arrived at the building at 1:25 p.m. and the ceremony lasted a mere 10 minutes, according to E! News.

“The ink was on the paper, finalized, at about 1:30,” a local city council press person told the network. “The rest was just happiness and joy.”

The civil ceremony concluded the couple’s whirlwind wedding weekend. The festivities kicked off Friday with bachelor and bachelorette parties, according to Us Weekly. Then, on Saturday, the two said “I do” at the Aman Canal Grande luxury hotel before a host of celebrity attendees like Matt Damon, John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Cindy Crawford, Bill Murray, Anna Wintour and Bono. On Sunday, the newlyweds held a lavish dinner at the Granaries of the Republic.

“It was very emotional and lovely,” Bono told People of the ceremony.

Clooney and Alamuddin got engaged in April after six months of dating.
